Report suspects minor domestic help of Ranpir Pir sexually abused

SUKKUR: A tragic case has unfolded in Ranipur town, Sindh, shedding light on the horrifying circumstances surrounding the death of a 10-year-old domestic help. The medical board responsible for the post-mortem examination of the young girl has concluded that she suffered "severe torture" and may have been subjected to sexual abuse.

Pir Asad Shah Jeelani, a member of a prominent family in Khairpur district's Ranipur town, was arrested by local authorities after allegations surfaced that he had brutally tortured the 10-year-old maid to death.

Initial exposure of the incident came through distressing video clips that circulated on social media. The footage revealed the minor victim's body bearing disturbing marks of severe torture. The video captured her struggling to sit up in bed, only to collapse due to her grievous injuries.

The video prompted widespread condemnation throughout the country.

The young girl was identified as the daughter of Nadeem Ali Tharro, a resident of the village Ali Muhammad Tharro, Khanawahan, near Mehrabpur in District Nausharoferoz.

Dr. Amanullah Bhanghwar, Additional Police Surgeon for Shaheed Benazirabad District, reported that an initial five-page post-mortem report was prepared by the medical board. The report indicated signs of decomposition, bluish discoloration on the right side of her face and forehead, and greenish mottled discoloration over the left side of her face, neck, and shoulder. The report also highlighted distension of the deceased girl's abdomen.

SSP Khairpur Mir Rohal Khan Khoso informed the media that the accused individual, Jillani, had undergone a DNA test at GIMS Hospital Khairpur, with DNA samples collected from four others working in the Pir's mansion. Although the mansion was not sealed, police were stationed there to gather essential evidence for the ongoing investigation.

The SSP expressed determination to rescue any other maids or employees who might be held against their will in the Pir's mansion.

He emphasized that the final post-mortem report would determine whether the minor girl had been subjected to sexual assault.

Additionally, the senior police officer revealed that the suspended SHO Ranipur, the doctor, and the compounder implicated in protecting the culprits would be taken into custody.

The young girl's body was exhumed in her native village, Khan Wahan in District Nausharoferoz, under the supervision of a judicial magistrate from Kandario, following an investigation by a medical team from Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Hospital in Nawabshah.
