Sindh schools to remain closed on September 7 on account of Chehlum

KARACHI : In a significant development, the provincial government of Sindh has announced the closure of all public and private schools in across the Sindh province for Thursday, September 7, in commemoration of Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA).

This decision was reached by the steering committee of the provincial education department, as confirmed in an official notification. The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) will be observed with great religious fervor and reverence on Thursday, accompanied by stringent security measures.

The occasion signifies the conclusion of a solemn 40-day mourning period following the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his 72 companions during the historic Battle of Karbala on the 10th of Muharram in 680 AD.

Across the province, mourning processions featuring Alam, Tazia, and Zuljinah will be conducted, showcasing the deep-rooted cultural and religious significance of this observance.
