Cyclone Buparjoy is likely to enter Pakistan at 11 am today, and the storm will hit Katy Bandar.

Officials have warned citizens that the storm is currently 310 km away from Karachi and 240 km away from Katy Bandar.

According to officials, waves in and around Katy Bandar can reach heights of 8 to 12 feet during the storm.

In light of the storm, more than 73,000 people have been evacuated from coastal areas to safe places, while some individuals are still in the coastal areas and have refused to leave their homes despite the instructions.

During a press conference in Islamabad yesterday, Sherry Rehman stated that the evacuation of people from the coastal areas is underway. She also mentioned that the cyclone of 1999 was similar, which has caused some confusion among the people and has made them worried.

He mentioned that both the Sindh government and the federal government, along with all institutions and administrations, are active and that the impact of the storm will be inevitable.

Sherry Rehman stated that the storm is moving at a speed of 150 to 160 kilometers per hour and is currently 370 kilometers away from Karachi. The cyclone is approaching Katy Bandar.

He stated that they are monitoring the situation 24 hours a day, and areas like Thatta, Sajawal, Badin, and Tharparkar will be more affected. The distance between the cyclone and Karachi is increasing, and people are requested to cooperate with the administration.

Sherry Rehman added that all agencies are actively involved in relief and rescue operations. So far, 66,000 people have been relocated to safe places. The most important task before the hurricane is the evacuation of the population.

Despite being far from Karachi, the storm will still have an impact, resulting in rain in Keti Bandar, Sajawal, and Tharparkar, as well as dusty winds in Mirpur Khas and Umarkot. Tidal surges have also been observed in Lasbela.

Rescue operations by the administration, Pakistan Navy, and Army are ongoing in the coastal areas. Navy divers have successfully rescued dozens of fishermen who were trapped at sea.

Over 64,000 people have been evacuated from coastal areas to safe places. However, despite instructions, some individuals are still remaining in the coastal areas and have refused to leave their homes.

Under the influence of Cyclone Buparjoy, heavy rain was experienced in certain areas of Karachi. Sea water overflowed onto the road in Hawke's Bay, and the land route from Karachi to Manora was partially cut off. Several vehicles got stuck in sand and water on the road to Manora. After leaving, the cyclone entered Paniabadi in Hydari.
