Justice Salahuddin Panhwar's Remarks Highlight the Plight of Workers in Sindh

Justice Salahuddin Panhwar

a judge at the Sindh High Court Sukkur Bench, has made some controversial remarks about the state of affairs in Sindh. During the hearing of a petition regarding the flats of Labor Colony, Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani also appeared before the court.

The judge remarked that Sindh is divided into two classes - the rulers and the slaves. This statement has caused a stir in the province and has brought attention to the plight of workers in Sindh. The judge also brought to light the issue of scholarships for the children of workers in Sindh. According to him, there is a scholarship of 6 billion rupees available for the children of workers in Sindh. With these funds, the children of workers can study in the United States.

However, the judge challenged the secretaries of orphan funds to show one hundred children who have received scholarships for higher education. He also questioned why an endowment fund has not been established. Saeed Ghani, the provincial minister, responded to the judge's questions by saying that scholarships are provided to the children of the poor and they are their trustees. He assured the court that they will work dutifully. However, the judge's questions raise important issues about the transparency and accountability of the government's scholarship programs. The judge's remarks also highlight the need for an endowment fund that can provide sustainable support to the children of workers in Sindh. The issue of encroachment of flats in Labor Colony was also brought up during the hearing. Saeed Ghani admitted that some flats in Labor Colony were encroached upon and were removed with the help of Rangers. This admission highlights the need for better monitoring and enforcement of laws that protect the rights of workers in Sindh.

Overall, Justice Salahuddin Panhwar's remarks have brought attention to the issues faced by workers in Sindh. The judge's questions about the scholarship program and the need for an endowment fund highlight the importance of transparency and accountability in government programs that support the poor and vulnerable. The admission by the provincial minister about the encroachment of flats in Labor Colony underscores the need for better enforcement of laws that protect the rights of workers in Sindh. These issues require urgent attention from the government and civil society in Sindh.
