The Pakistani government has announced its intention to hold talks with the United States over the delay in the staff level agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has already discussed the issue with American authorities, and now Finance Minister Ishaq Dar is expected to discuss the matter with the American ambassador. Sources suggest that the delay in the staff level agreement is causing unnecessary delays in the overall agreement, and the government hopes to resolve the matter soon. It is believed that an agreement may be reached during the current week following talks with the United States. The IMF has been accused of stalling the agreement despite Pakistan meeting all of its requirements and implementing numerous tax increases. Virtual talks with the IMF are scheduled for today. The government hopes that discussions with the United States and the IMF will lead to a swift resolution of the matter and enable Pakistan to move forward with its economic plans
