Government's Bachat Bazar scheme during Ramadan completely failed

All over the world, things are cheaper on special occasions, but in our country, it is the opposite. Ramadan is a profitable month for businessmen, and in every small and big city, there are excuses for people to celebrate Ramadan Sharif. They eagerly wait for this month of welfare. However, the condition of those who have already crossed the poverty line has become worse, and the government seems to be busy making announcements without taking any practical steps to provide relief to the people.

Recently, a large part of Sindh was affected by unusual rains and floods, and the demand for everything increased under the guise of efforts taken by international organizations to save the country from bankruptcy, causing a storm of inflation. This has made it difficult for the common man to live his traditional life.

The government of Sindh has started a series of cheap Ramadan bazaars for the public, but unfortunately, the public has not benefitted from it in any way. Some of these bazaars do not have the necessary goods on the stalls, and therefore, these markets are not being held elsewhere. At present, these markets have become a joke for the public. In several series of cheap bazaars established by the government of Sindh for the masses, the stalls set up for bachat bazaar in Larkana, Naseerabad, Ghari, Jhol, and Faizganj were found empty. Citizens who came to buy essential items for their households, such as flour, sugar, ghee, and rice, went back disappointed. In Sanjhuru, the citizens also protested against the availability of substandard flour in the bachat bazaar established there, saying that unsanitary and unhealthy flour was being sold in the name of cheap flour. After such an incident, the assistant commissioner of Jhol sealed a flour mill supplying substandard flour, and confirmed that non-standard flour from a flour mill was being sold in the market.

The situation is almost the same throughout Sindh, where ordinary traders are receiving demands of their own will, and against whom the commissioners take formal action, but no action is taken. On the one hand, people are being provided with cheap Ramadan bazaars, and on the other hand, the price of fruits and vegetables during Ramadan is also higher than on normal days. But after their departure, the same kind of traders' exploitation continues, due to which people are not getting any practical benefit from these efforts.

The government of Sindh needs to protect people from the tyranny of the traders and the mafia on a permanent basis in all taluks. For this purpose, the government needs to take more effective steps than what is being done to establish the rule. It is also necessary to ensure that every businessman feels bound by the law and does not exploit the public for unnecessary profit. In this regard, district and taluk officials can take necessary steps and hold meetings with the traders to persuade them; otherwise, strict legal action should be taken. When action is taken without any exception, it will have some result. These problems have become ingrained in society and require constant vigilance and brutal enforcement of the law to eliminate them.

According to a report, six citizens lost their lives in an attempt to benefit from the government's free flour scheme due to a shortage of flour in different areas of the country. Poverty, misery, and inflation in the country have made it difficult for people to afford basic necessities like food. Despite this, the government and the administration have not been able to create a way to feed the people with respect and peace. One person died due to standing in a queue for hours in Bakar, an elderly woman died due to suffocation in Muzaffargarh, three people died due to heart attacks while waiting in queues in Multan, Faisalabad, and Kot
