According to details, the government’s three-month relief for electricity consumers using up to 200 units will expire on September 30. Starting from October 1, the base tariff for consumers using up to 200 units will increase by Rs 7.12 per unit.
Sources revealed that the tariff for non-protected consumers using up to 100 units will rise by Rs 7.12, reaching Rs 23.59 per unit, while the tariff for those using between 101 and 200 units will also increase by Rs 7.12, bringing it to Rs 30.07 per unit.
Furthermore, for protected consumers using up to 100 units, the tariff will rise from Rs 3.95 to Rs 11.69 per unit, and for those using between 101 and 200 units, the tariff will increase from Rs 4.10 to Rs 14.16 per unit.
Meanwhile, the tariff for lifeline consumers using up to 50 units per month will remain unchanged at Rs 3.95 per unit. The tariff for those using between 51 and 100 units will also remain steady at Rs 7.74 per unit.
Sources indicated that in July 2024, the federal government raised the base electricity tariff by Rs 7.12 per unit. However, consumers using up to 200 units were exempted from this increase for three months. The government had allocated a Rs 50 billion subsidy to prevent the price hike for consumers using up to 200 units during this period.
