🎯 Job Purpose – Cleaner
The Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining a clean, hygienic, safe and well-organized working environment at the ACTED office and other assigned premises.
The role includes cleaning offices, meeting rooms, washrooms, kitchen and common areas, managing waste, maintaining cleanliness during working hours and following applicable health, safety and environmental procedures.
🧹 Main Responsibilities of Cleaner
Office Cleaning & Maintenance
- Clean offices, meeting rooms, reception areas, corridors and common areas.
- Sweep, mop and clean floors and surfaces.
- Dust furniture, tables, chairs and office equipment.
- Clean windows, doors and other assigned surfaces.
- Empty waste bins and dispose of waste properly.
- Keep office premises clean and presentable throughout working hours.
- Provide additional cleaning support during meetings, training sessions and events.
🚿 Washroom & Hygiene Duties
- Clean and disinfect washrooms regularly.
- Clean toilets, washbasins, mirrors and floors.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of sanitary facilities.
- Check availability of soap, tissue paper and handwash.
- Report plumbing, drainage and water-supply problems to the supervisor.
- Ensure washrooms remain clean and hygienic.
🍽️ Kitchen & Common Areas
- Clean and maintain the office kitchen and dining areas.
- Wash cups, glasses, plates and assigned utensils.
- Clean kitchen counters, sinks and floors.
- Dispose of kitchen waste properly.
- Support kitchen-related cleaning duties where required.
- Maintain proper hygiene when handling kitchen items.
♻️ Waste Management
- Collect office and kitchen waste.
- Dispose of waste in designated locations.
- Keep waste bins clean.
- Prevent garbage accumulation inside or around the office.
- Follow relevant environmental and waste-management procedures.
📅 Daily Duties
- Clean office rooms and common areas.
- Clean and disinfect washrooms.
- Sweep and mop floors.
- Dust furniture and office surfaces.
- Empty waste bins.
- Clean kitchen and common areas.
- Wash assigned utensils.
- Check basic hygiene supplies.
- Monitor the general cleanliness of the premises.
- Report maintenance, hygiene and safety concerns to the supervisor.
🛡️ Health, Safety & Hygiene Requirements
- Follow safe cleaning practices.
- Use protective equipment where required.
- Handle cleaning chemicals carefully.
- Do not mix cleaning chemicals unless specifically instructed and safe.
- Keep cleaning chemicals away from food and drinking water.
- Immediately report spills, accidents or hazardous conditions.
- Keep floors and work areas safe to prevent slips and falls.
- Follow organizational health, safety and environmental procedures.
🎓 Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Minimum Primary / Middle education is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience is listed.
- Previous experience as a Cleaner, Office Boy/Girl, Housekeeper or in a similar role is preferred.
- Previous experience in an NGO/INGO, office, hotel, school or professional environment may be an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning, hygiene and sanitation practices.
- Ability to use basic cleaning equipment and materials.
- Physically fit and able to perform routine cleaning duties.
