Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa: "Lies Are Told to Earn Dollars

Islamabad (Social Media Point News - September 24, 2024):
Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa has stated that lies are told to earn dollars, criticizing the current state of reporting. He emphasized that there is a lot of incorrect reporting happening today, but the Supreme Court does not have a media cell to continuously issue clarifications.

The remarks came during the hearing of the Punjab Election Tribunals case, which is being heard by a five-member bench led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, with Justices Ameen Uddin and Jamal Khan Mandokhel also on the bench, alongside Justices Aqeel Abbasi and Naeem Akhtar Afghan.

During the proceedings, Salman Akram Raja raised an objection regarding Chief Justice Isa's participation in the bench. As the petitioner’s lawyer, Hamid Khan, addressed the Chief Justice, he stated, "My Lord, we wish to submit a request; we have an objection to your hearing of the case." In response, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa remarked, "You are a senior lawyer, and we respect you. Please allow us to read the order first; you may kindly remain seated, and we will listen to you later. However, if you wish to separate from the case, you may do so; we have no objection."

While making his comments, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa said, "The Constitution exists, but no one bothers to read it. There was a time when court reporting was genuine, but nowadays, court reporting is merely about accumulating dollars. Lies are told to earn dollars. Incorrect reporting is rampant, but the Supreme Court does not have a media cell to continuously issue clarifications. I have repeatedly stated that one should look at the Constitution and see what it says, but no one takes the trouble. If the Constitution were implemented, all issues would be resolved."
