A school bus, operating near the federal capital Islamabad in the Shahdra area, met with a devastating accident, resulting in the heartbreaking loss of a young girl at the scene.
"Our hearts go out to the affected families in this tragic incident," said a spokesperson for the Islamabad Police.
According to the Islamabad Police report, the incident involved a school bus transporting students from Sheikhupura to a school in Shahdra.
"This unfortunate event occurred during a routine journey, turning a day of education into a day of sorrow," stated the police representative.
The total number of children on the bus for a school picnic was approximately 39. Sadly, 15 children sustained injuries in the accident and are currently being transported to the hospital for medical attention.
"Emergency services are on the scene, and all necessary measures are being taken to provide immediate medical aid to the injured," assured the police spokesperson.
The preliminary police investigation revealed that the driver had parked the vehicle on a slope, started the engine, and was standing on the side when the bus unexpectedly moved forward, ultimately falling into the ravine.
"We are thoroughly investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident to determine any negligence or technical faults," stated the police, urging the public to await the official findings.
