Senator Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar picked as caretaker PM

Senator Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, a member of the Balochistan Awami Party, has been chosen as the caretaker Prime Minister. This decision was made after discussions between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Opposition Leader Raja Riaz. They agreed that the interim prime minister should come from a smaller province. Kakar's name was proposed by Riaz and approved. This choice was finalized after President Arif Alvi reminded both Shehbaz and Riaz to suggest a candidate by August 12 as per the Constitution.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar is a political figure from Balochistan. He became a Senator in 2018 and was an active politician in the region. He had also been the spokesperson for the provincial government before becoming a Senator. Kakar is known for his intellect and has ties with various political parties, including PML-N and PPP. He belongs to the Kakar tribe, which is of Pashtun ethnicity, representing both Pashtuns and Balochs. Kakar contested the National Assembly election in 2008 from Quetta and holds a Master's degree in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Balochistan.
