CM Murad held the first meeting with the opposition leader to select the caretaker chief minister.

CM Murad held the first meeting with the opposition leader to select the caretaker chief minister.

In Karachi, the Chief Minister, Murad Ali Shah, and the Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly, Rana Ansar, had a meeting to decide on a caretaker leader for the province. They met at the Sindh CM House and congratulated each other for finishing the Sindh Assembly's term. However, they didn't suggest any names for the caretaker leader at this meeting.

A spokesperson for the sindh Chief minister stated that they agreed to meet again the next day to continue discussing this matter.

A day before, on August 11, the Sindh Governor, Kamran Tessori, approved a request from CM Murad to dissolve the provincial assembly.

The PPP party considered the names of Justice (R) Maqbool Baqir and former Sindh chief secretary Mumtaz Ali Shah for the role, while the opposition also talked about a few names, including Dr Safdar Abbasi, Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi, Shoaib Siddiqqui, and Younus Dagha.

After their meeting, CM Murad Ali Shah talked to the media and thanked his cabinet for their support during tough times. He mentioned that the federal government and the opposition had caused difficulties in running the Sindh Assembly.

He explained that if they couldn't agree on a caretaker leader with the opposition, the matter would go to the provincial assembly's committee. If they couldn't decide there either, the provincial election commission would choose the temporary leader.

He made it clear that he would remain in his position until a caretaker leader was chosen.

Rana Ansar, in a conversation with news channel, said that neither she nor the Chief Minister had suggested any names for the caretaker leader position. She shared that the Chief Minister was discussing with his party leadership about the name, and she was consulting with opposition parties too.

They are scheduled to meet again tomorrow to continue their discussions.
