Women's Freedom March organized by Women Action Forum Hyderabad on International Women's Day


Hyderabad/Lahore (Reporter + MD) - Women's Action Forum Hyderabad organized a Women's Freedom March on the occasion of International Women's Day. The march started from Shahbaz Building and ended at the Press Club, with the participation of women, students, leaders of political and social organizations, human rights activists, writers, poets, and journalists. The women chanted slogans for women's rights, including "New slogan New Sindh, Jai Aurat Jai Sindh."
Renowned writer Noorul Huda Shah addressed the participants, highlighting the significance of Hyderabad's march, which includes women of different faiths and peasants. She urged religious women to stand up and speak against the misuse of religion, while encouraging farmers to speak up for their rights and wages. She also advised all women to refuse violence, stay strong with their sisters and daughters, and demand equal rights and representation in the assemblies.
During the march, Dr. Irfanah Mallah demanded an increase in the wages of domestic workers to be equal to that of laborers. Atiya Dawood, the leader of WAF Karachi, praised the efforts of WAF Hyderabad, which had been working for months to organize the march. Zeib Nissa Malah, the leader of the People's Party Ladies' Wing, called for more seats for women in local and general elections.
In Lahore, a rally was taken out from Shimla Pahari to Egerton Road, with a large number of participants. The Women's Freedom March was a call for women's rights and equality, and the participants vowed to continue their struggle for these rights every year.
