Sindh High Court orders Sukkur gas companies to stop giving royalties to MNAs and MPs. Will the funds finally be used for the development of neglected regions

The Sindh High Court has ordered Sukkur gas companies to stop giving royalty funds to MNAs and MPs. A hearing was held in the Sindh High Court bench on the petition of Naru Vasin. The court has sought a report from the DCs regarding the royalties received from the gas companies, while officials from the gas companies and related parties also appeared during the hearing.
The petitioner's lawyer claimed that the MNAs have distributed the areas to their children to effectively collect the royalties received from the gas companies. Lawyer Zulfiqar Naich told the court that Ghotki has been severely neglected, and even a good hospital cannot be found. Justice Salahuddin Panhoor remarked that committees were formed for the royalty of gas companies, with the chairman being MNAs and the members being MPs.
Justice Salahuddin Panhor also stated that the gas administration is giving royalties, but they are not being spent on health and education. He further commented that with the amount of money that has come, great things could have been done, such as establishing a hospital like Aga Khan in Ghotki. The court said that out of one billion, every child in Ghotki could have received the best education, a good university could have been established, and the rich people from the gas companies would have received money and other benefits.
Justice Salahuddin Panhor further stated that no one has the courage to speak for the development of the region, except for giving respect to peers, MNAs, and MPs. The court asked what the gas companies of Khairpur, Ghotki, and Kashmore should do.
The Sindh High Court has ordered the DCs to submit a report on the three-year funds on March 13 and has prevented the funds from being given to the committees.
