Harrison Ford to depict realistic symptoms of Parkinson's in ‘Shrinking


In the Apple TV+ series Shrinking, Harrison Ford, 82, takes on the role of Dr. Paul Rhodes, a mentor to therapist Jimmy Laird, played by Jason Segel. The character's struggle with Parkinson's disease is a central theme, particularly highlighted at the end of the first season, where it is revealed that Dr. Rhodes is battling the degenerative condition.

Ford has stated that the upcoming season will portray the realities of Parkinson's without any embellishment. He told Entertainment Weekly, “You're going to see increasing difficulty that arises from his disease and complications from his disease.” He emphasized the importance of authentically representing the challenges associated with Parkinson's, stating, “It's a very challenging and difficult disease, and we're not going to sugarcoat it.”

Parkinson’s disease affects the brain and leads to involuntary tremors, making daily activities increasingly difficult and potentially leaving patients dependent on others for care. Ford's candid remarks come amidst fan concern about his health, particularly after he received the Disney Legend honor at the D23 Expo in August.
