In a significant development, three prominent politicians, Fawad Chaudhry, Imran Ismail, and Mehmood Maulvi, have left the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party under Chairman Imran Khan's leadership. They have now become active in politics and openly declared their opposition to the party.
The trio recently met with Tehreek-e-Insaf Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi at Adiala Jail, where they held discussions. Subsequently, they addressed the media outside the jail premises, sharing their thoughts on the current political scenario.
Former Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry expressed his satisfaction with the meeting he had with Shah Mehmood Qureshi, highlighting his strong condemnation of the events that unfolded on May 9. Chaudhry emphasized that the support of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) cannot be relied upon and emphasized the need for a robust opposition in the country.
Chaudhry firmly stated that the well-being of 250 million Pakistanis should not be compromised by aligning with Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari. He emphasized the importance of a functioning opposition for a healthy democracy and stressed the need for accountability for the events of May 9.
Furthermore, Chaudhry expressed the belief that Pakistan must strive for stability and work towards releasing innocent workers from unjust incarcerations. He held the PDM government responsible for the constitutional, political, and economic uncertainties prevalent in the country, emphasizing the urgent need to find solutions.
Chaudhry further revealed his contact with several former PTI leaders, including Ali Zaidi, Parvez Khattak, Asad Umar, Farrukh Habib, Hamad Azhar, Shahzad Wasim, Atif Khan, and Shahram Turkai. He mentioned detailed discussions with these leaders and acknowledged his positive meeting with Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
The former PTI leader chose not to respond to media questions, leaving the premises after addressing the press. This development has significant implications for the political landscape, as Fawad Chaudhry, Imran Ismail, and Mehmood Maulvi emerge as prominent figures in the opposition against PTI and Imran Khan's leadership. The coming days will likely witness intense political maneuvering and debates as these former PTI leaders chart their course.
