It’s Over Now
By Zorain Nizamani / Viji Kumar
The powerful elderly men and women who have remained seated on the throne of authority for decades must now confront an uncomfortable truth: the game is over. The younger generation is no longer willing to buy what you are trying to sell. You may organize countless lectures, seminars, and speeches in schools and colleges, and you may exhaust every possible effort to promote patriotism, but all of it will remain ineffective.
Patriotism cannot be forced. It emerges naturally when people are given equal opportunities, when strong infrastructure exists, and when an efficient and just system is in place. When a state ensures basic services and protects the rights of its citizens, there is no need to lecture students about loving their country—they will do so on their own.
A Generation That Sees Clearly
Young minds—Generation Z and Generation Alpha—are fully aware of what is happening around them. Despite continuous attempts to impose a narrow and state-approved version of patriotism upon them, they see reality as it is. Thanks to the internet and the remnants of an education system that still survives, all efforts to keep the public uninformed have failed.
You have failed to dictate what people should think. People are thinking for themselves now. Many may hesitate to express their thoughts openly, not out of ignorance but because survival feels more precious. Yet they are fully aware of the artificial morality and manufactured virtue you claim to represent. You may continue to rule through force, but there is no sympathy for you left in the hearts of the people.
You cannot even step outside your homes without security. If this reality does not tell you something about your public standing, then you must seriously reassess the situation.
When the Youth Has Had Enough
For the youth, it has gone on long enough. Having realized that directly confronting the powerful is neither safe nor feasible, many are choosing to leave the country instead. The idea that they will rise in a grand anti-corruption movement is largely romanticized. The reality is far more sobering: they will leave quietly and never look back—because those who dared to raise their voices were silenced.
For the boomers, however, the road ahead has reached a dead end. The gap between the ruling elite and the younger generation has grown so wide that it can no longer be bridged.
- Generation Z demands fast and affordable internet, while those in power demand more firewalls.
- Generation Z wants affordable, high-quality smartphones, while the ruling class prefers heavier taxes on them.
- Generation Z seeks ease in freelancing and participation in the digital economy, while policymakers introduce new regulations and restrictions.
A Defeated Mindset
There is no longer any room for common ground. This is precisely why the older generation has already lost—politically, socially, and intellectually. Whatever strategies you deploy, Generation Z will turn them into memes. Censor mainstream media, and they will migrate to YouTube, Rumble, Discord, and every alternative platform available.
Ideas can no longer be imprisoned. The era when people could be easily deceived and manipulated is over.
Economic Reality and Quiet Resistance
Yes, we do not have libraries.
Yes, we cannot afford rented apartments.
Yes, we cannot buy cars.
These are the outcomes of your policies—of an economy more broken than the moral claims you repeatedly make. Yet despite all this, we continue moving forward. We seek comfort in books, spend time on social media, sit in cafés we may secretly resent, and eat double-patty burgers. We are carving our own path through this blurred and uncertain world.
Media Irrelevance and New Expression
When you speak on television, we often do not watch. Most of what you say is dismissed as hysteria. We have stand-up comedy, podcasts, and digital content—so why would we turn to mainstream media at all?
Times are changing. The sooner you understand this, the better. But perhaps you do not care. Your children live abroad. You earn millions daily. You enjoy unchecked power, fine food, and clean water. Why should any of this concern you?
The Final Realization
It will concern you the day you realize that no one is willing to listen to you anymore.
You know why?
Because Generation Z has headphones on, Spotify playing. And if conditions become even more unbearable, half the population will be ready to leave the country, while the other half will force you to listen to their music—and it will not be a pleasant experience.
Boomers, enough is enough.
We are no longer buying your narratives.
They are outdated.
