| Prohibited funding case: ECP gives PTI final chance to submit reply |
The Election Commission of Pakistan has given Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) a final opportunity to respond to a show-cause notice regarding prohibited funding. The deadline for submission is August 22, and if the response isn't provided by then, the matter will be decided based on existing records. The ECP expressed dissatisfaction, noting that the case has been pending since August 2, 2022, and numerous hearings have taken place. The PTI has been using delaying tactics, resulting in a Rs50,000 fine, which will be given to an orphanage. The commission adjourned the matter to August 22 for the final reply submission, warning that failure to comply will result in a decision based on available records.
