At least 21 killed as landslide sweeps houses in northern China

China has been facing really bad weather with lots of rain and destruction. In a place called Shaanxi, a landslide happened, and it caused 21 people to die and six are still missing. This news came from officials on Sunday.

A TV station in China called CNR said that the landslide happened on Friday in a village called Weiziping, which is in the south of a city called Xi'an. It destroyed two houses and messed up roads, bridges, electricity, and other things.

The people who are in charge of emergencies in Xi'an said online that they found 21 dead bodies so far and six people are still missing.

Before, the news said that only four people had died on Sunday.

The TV station CNR also said on a website called Weibo that four people have died and some others can't be reached.

Earlier, they said that two people had died and 16 were missing.

CNR also said that around 100 soldiers and firefighters were sent to help on Sunday.

China has been having really big floods and lots of rain lately. In the north part of the country, at least 78 people have died because of storms, according to the latest news on Friday.

A video from a news agency called Xinhua showed broken trees and a lot of dirt on roads in a village that's on a mountain. Houses and other things are broken or gone.

The people from the TV station said that 81 people and 11 vehicles were sent to help.

At the same time, a strong wind and rainstorm called Typhoon Khanun became weaker and turned into a weaker kind of storm called a tropical depression when it reached China's Liaoning province on Friday night.

Even though the storm is weaker now, there's still a lot of rain falling in the northeastern province, and that might make floods in cities that are lower down, like a place called Anshan. A TV channel called CCTV said that almost 18,000 people had to leave their homes because of this danger.

CCTV also said that during the night, there was a time when 52 millimeters of rain fell in an hour, and four big places where water is kept, called reservoirs, got too full.

CCTV told everyone that a special meeting happened on Sunday morning. People who are in charge of floods and emergencies in China talked about what they can do to stop more problems in places that are really affected by floods, like Liaoning, Shaanxi, Tianjin, and Chongqing.
