CM Sindh approves 46.3 billion rupees for the  construction of 71 roads damaged by floods


 KARACHI (November 4): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved overhauling/reconstruction of 71 roads damaged by heavy rains/floods at a cost of Rs 46.3 billion to start the work as soon as possible.  He said that overhauling of damaged roads, especially minor roads that connect farms to market and various villages to the main highways, is important for the convenience and transportation of the people for the revival of the economy.  He said this while presiding over a meeting at the Chief Minister's House on Friday.  Minister for Works Zia Abbas Shah, Chief Secretary Sohail Rajput, Chairman P&D Hasan Naqvi, Principal Secretary to Sindh Chief Minister Fayaz Jatoi, Secretary Works Imran Atta and Chief Engineer Roads attended the meeting.  The Chief Minister was told that 71 roads of 23 districts with a total length of 1473.38 km have been destroyed by heavy rains and floods, including 6 roads of 157.7 km in Jamshoro district, 5 roads of 149.27 km in Dadu, 106.6 km in Shaheed Benazirabad.  3 roads, 9 roads of 137 km in Nowshahrofiroz, 2 roads of 20.4 km in Hyderabad, 6 roads of 93.8 km in Tando Ulhiar, 1 road in Tondo Ulhiar, 1 road of 19 km in Tondo Mohammad Khan, 65 km in Thatta.  4 roads, 2 roads of 55.5 km in Sajawal, 1 road of 71 km in Badin, 2 roads of 80 km in Mirpurkhas, 1 road of 20 km in Umarkot, 3 roads of 46 km in Sanghar, 1 road of 35 km in Tharparkar,  5 roads of 58 km in Sukkur, 1 road of 9 km in Ghotki, 2 roads of 23 km in Khairpur, 3 roads of 67 km in Shikarpur, 3 roads of 45.45 km in Jacobabad, 3 roads of 52.29 km in Kashmore.  Roads, 5 roads of 92.65 km in Larkana and 3 roads of 67.2 km in Qamber-Shahdadkot.  are included.  Works Minister Zia Abbas Shah told the Chief Minister that the cost of roads has been estimated at 46.32 billion rupees.  Chief Minister Sindh while approving the scheme directed Chairman P&D Hasan Naqvi to give regular finalization and start the work as soon as possible.  The meeting was informed that the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has also agreed to provide financial support for the repair work of some major roads in the province, for which the necessary documents are being completed.
